Abstract

There are still many critics criticizing output of English teaching and learning process in the classroom in all level of education. These critical opinions bring the teachers about trying a new approach of teaching to find an appropriate way to help the students mastering English. This study aims to present the implementation of Natural Approach in the process of teaching and learning in the classroom, especially in the third class of Samawi Islamic Elementary School. Multiple intelligence theory, as a new unique way to analyze the students intelligent and help them to maximize their ability, is also adopted in this study. This adoption result from a variety of ability that the students in the classroom have.

Abstract

Happiest teaching....the biggest problem will be the nicest thing whenit can be overcome. English Language Teaching in Indonesia seems still to be problematic, in term of curriculum, teacher and student. Regarding the students, possessing well self-esteem and willingness to take a risk in learning English are the two major aspects of personality factors from the affective domain that contribute much in the success of English Language Teaching.There are three agents influence in building the learners self-esteem and risk-taking; parent/family, teacher and school. It is actually a must for the parents to provide more space and time for their children to have a chance to show and develop their capability, thus they can have a high confidence. Teacher on the other side should try to always encourage the students to perform their English by creating and maintaining the learners involvement in every English activity.Making a deal of the teaching and learning activities in the very beginning of the meeting, creating both the rule and the fine during the period of study, making a class commitment to reach the goal of learning English, encouraging to perform just what they way they are, creating the fun and friendly environment and giving any compliment of any small progress are the possible solution to tackle the problems on students confidence and risk-taking.Providing a special space, teacher and program just for a student with very critical problem on their personality is another proposed solution to the school.

Abstract

Research consistently has shown that traditional lecture methods, in which teachers/lecturers talk and students listen, dominate college and university classrooms. It is therefore important to know the nature of active learning, the empirical research on its use, the common obstacles and barriers that give rise to faculty members' resistance to interactive instructional techniques, and how faculty, faculty developers, administrators, and educational researchers can make real the promise of active learning. Instead of some examples of active learning are provided below, cooperative learning technique is the main focus as one of technique that the writers exposed. To conclude, the active learning is an alternative teaching to increase the quality of graduates. The use of active learning approach can increase the quality of teaching and learning.

Abstract

Essentially language is a communication tool which includes the interactional parts by people. In interaction, people in particular groups usually use informal spoken language rather than formal language. They usually use this informal language because they know well each other. Slang and jargon become a special language for particular groups of people. Abstract

: In the novel The Old Man and the Sea the writer found some positive characters in the novel. During the analysis the writer applies structural genetic approach. The analysis shows that Santiago as character who performs spirit, motivation and hard worker. Then, Mandolin shows a helpful character. Then the setting of the Novel implies that a man should have a good relation with the nature.

Abstract

One of the aspects of teaching ESP is development materials. ESP teaching should be linked to a specific discipline, make use of methodology that differs from that used in English for General Purpose teaching. They assert that it is essential that an ESP course take into consideration register, genres and associated language that students need to understand and to manipulated in order to carry out activities related to their disciplines.
